Item description : 1 Zamia sp. Baracoa seedling in a 1,4 liters pot. You receive a plant similar to the plant on pictures. The last pictures show the motherplant (not for sale). Be careful, this species is a bit more tropical than the other Caribbean ones so I highly suggest to keep it in tropical conditions for the first years.
Habitat and Description : Most certainly one of the most amazing Cuban Zamia and it’s an exclusivity from my nursery! These seedlings come from seedsproduced at the nursery, after waiting so many years for plants to mature and make cones. This species stands out compared to the others by its long leaves with wide and coriaceous leaflets, wine color at emergence. As a result it’s sometimes mistaken for a Mexican species as it doesn’t look like any other Caribbean species. One of my favorite.
Care : Intermediate difficulty. The seedling stage can be a bit tricky, so it’s best to keep it warm during the first year (minimum 20-25°C ideally). Well draining soil mix and good waterings when it’s hot are recommended.
Cold hardiness : Probably zone 9b but never tested due to its rarity.
