Item description : 1 Nymphaea jamesoniana plant shipped BARE ROOTED. You receive a plant similar to the one on pictures.
Habitat and Description : This waterlily belongs to the Hydrocallis section of the genus Nymphaea that is primarily found in South America but this one is found up north in Florida too. This species are night blooming and are pollinated by beetles. This species comes from French Guyana (and neighboring countries). Since they flower in the middle of the night, it might be difficult to bserve them. So we can trick the plants by putting it in complete darkness: cover the plant fully around noon or early afternoon, come back 3-4 hours later and the flower should be open.
This species hasn’t flowered yet here, as soon as it will have I’ll post pics.
Care : Easy to grow. Water temperature from 18 to 30°C, pH 7-8, varied substrates, no problem with clay. Full sun.
