Habitat and Description : Epiphytic fern endemic of Madagascar and very sought after by collectors. This species looks similar to Platycerium ridleyi but it’s not directly related to it. The corrugated shield houses ants that will defend the plant against potential predators. It’s one of the smallest species and in habitat it’s often found with orchids of the genus Cymbidiella.
Care : Easy to grow but prefers acidic water, if your water is too alkaline it’s better to bath your plant in rainwater or distilled water. Contrary to popular belief, this species is not very difficult to cultivate. These for sale grow at 22-28°C and 50-60% humidity.
Cold hardiness : Purely tropical species.
