Habitat and Description : This waterlily belongs to the Hydrocallis section of the genus Nymphaea that is primarily found in South America. This species are night blooming and are pollinated by beetles.
This waterlily is a form of Nymphaea amazonum that was found in Cuba. The flower normally opens between 5 and 7am.
Since they flower in the middle of the night, it might be difficult to bserve them. So we can trick the plants by putting it in complete darkness: cover the plant fully around noon or early afternoon, come back 3-4 hours later and the flower should be open.
Care : Easy to grow. Water temperature from 18 to 30°C, pH 7-8, varied substrates, no problem with clay. Full sun.
