Species : Cycas revoluta x multifrondis
Item description : One (1) well rooted plant with a 5cm caudex in a 10 liters pot. The plant for sale is the pictured one.
Habitat and Description : Hybrid obtained from the pollination of a female Cycas revoluta with pollen of Cycas multifrondis. Mature plants have most of their leaflets divided. The plants offered for sale start to show some bipinnate leaflets.
Care : Fast growing hybrid, can be grown in full sun or shade. Likes well draining soil but needs a lot of water in summer, especially if grown in full sun.
Cold hardiness : Hardy to zone 9b, probably 9a. More trials need to be made to determiner this hybrid’s limits.
Last 3 pictures show a plant with an approximately 12cm caudex, established for several years in a garden in Gard departent (South of France). It didn’t show foliar damage after winter 2017/2018 cold spells with -7°C lows and about 10 centimeters of snow. Pictures taken 15th May 2018.
