Dracaena draco ssp caboverdeana “Fogo”

Item description : 1 seedling of Dracaena draco ssp caboverdeana in a 1,4 liters pot, seeds com from the Fogo Island population. You receive a plant similar to the pictured one.

Habitat and Description : Subspecies endemic to Cape Verde Island, it used to be thought to be the same as the Canary Island Dragon tree (Dracaena draco ssp draco). It’s smaller, more compact and more blue than the Canary Islands one. Rare in cultivation

Care : Easy to grow if given heat and humidity. These plants grow in a greenhouse, they need to be acclimated slowly to the sun if planted outside. Hot and dry conditions make the plants bluer on subadult and adult plants, young plants are green.

Cold hardiness : Given for zone 9b but better to keep frost free
