Item description : Amazing plant with a 30cm caudex and a 150cm leaves span (at least!), very difficult to find at this size especially since South Africa import are limited to 15cm in caudex diameter. This plant is mature but the sex is not known yet. The plant for sale is the pictured one.
ATTENTION: This plant is too heavy to be shipped with its pot so it will be shipped bare rooted, please be prepared to repot it upon arival. To ship the plant with its pot would have a prohibitive price regarding packing and shipping costs.
Habitat and Description : South African and Mozambique species. Slow growing but can form a trunk after several decades of growing. Very spiny leaves. The scarlet red cones that contrast with the deep green leaves are the main feature of this species.
Cold hardiness : Given for zone 9b (-3°C/-4°C), can tolerate light frosts without damages.
