Item description : 1 Cycas brachycantha seedling in a 1.4L pot. You receive a plant similar to the pictured ones. The last pictures show plants cultivated in Vietnam.
Habitat and Description : This species is extremely rare in cultivation and cmes from Vietnam. It’s found in the forest of the north of the country, at middle elevation. It’s a medium size cycad , with adult plant bearing 1m20 leaves and a caudex that only forms a trunk on the oldest speciments
Care : Easy to grow, will prefer dappled shade. To be grown in a well draining soil mix with plenty of heat and water in summer. Neutral soil pH prefered, if calcareous, organic matter and iron can be added for better growth.
Cold hardiness : Completely unknown due to its rarity in cultivation. In habitat, temperatures go down to 10°C which is “cool” for a Cycas in habitat. It’s possible that this species has some cold hardiness but it has to be tested.
